The Deborah L. Newton Legacy Endowment fund is established in her name to honor her artistic  legacy and to revitalize a cycle of recognition which began in her youth. The Katherine Lord scholarship (1956) afforded her an art-making experience which became the catalyst for success as a visual artist and community arts builder. Deborah was also honored with Rockford Art Museum’s Jessica Holt Purchase Award to add her work to the permanent collection.

These awards have completed their run, but their spirit will rebound with the Deborah Newton Award. The fund benefits Rockford Art Museum to provide visual art-making experiences to 7th or 8th grade students along with awards to established visual artists in the community – – forever.
